Ichiro Says he Doesn’t Care What the Yankees Do

While Ichiro just a week said he wanted to stay with the Yankees is willing to play elsewhere.

Ichiro who is a free agent this off season is quite frustrated with direction that talks with the New York Yankees have gone or lack there of. According to a Yahoo! Report Ichiro’s agent Tony Attanasio says him and his client haven’t spoken with the Yankees recently and they will sign the best deal that comes along.

“At the beginning we talked a lot but since that time, zero, as far as we are concerned we don’t care what the Yankees do. We have had conversations with multiple clubs. If we see something we like he will go through with it.” Tony Attanasio

The Yankees made very few moves to their offense in this short offense, choosing to sure up their pitching first by Hiroki Kuroda, Andy Pettitte, and Mariano Rivera to a combined $37 million.

This sounds nothing more than Ichiro not feeling the love. Everyone loves attention, and Ichiro doesn’t feel like he got enough of it. While I understand, I think in his situation he should’ve just chilled, the fact that this contradicts what he said a week ago makes him sound too emotional and we know the Steinbrenners aren’t afraid to flex their muscle even if it results in their loss. Ichiro only hit for a .283 batting average last season (261 with Seattle, .322 with New York) which was only 11 points hire than his .272 average. Ichiro is on the decline and besides the Yankees who overpay for everything, I can’t see many times willing to give him big money.
