Dallas Cowboys Hire Monte Kiffin to Replace Rob Ryan as Defensive Coordinator

image

Three days after Jerry Jones and the Cowboys fired defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, they’ve found his successor.

Monte Kiffin will now serve as the teams defensive coordinator after resigning from the same position from the University of Southern California.

Kiffin had his most success with the Tampa Bay Bucaneers with his ‘Tampa 2’ defense where he won a Super Bowl in 2002.

He will have to make the decision whether to switch the Cowboys from a 3-4 to 4-3 front.

The Cowboys defense ranked 19th overall, however they had to deal with a lot of injuries which weakened their secondary. They gave up the most yards in franchise history 5,687 and forced a franchise low 16 turnovers.

Major League Baseball and the Players Union have agreed to in season blood testing to detect an increase in testosterone. It’s a big step from last year when they only performed blood testing during spring training.

Bud Selig was quoted as saying the agreement is a proud day for baseball, and that MLB will continue to be the leader in drug testing in sports.

“This is a proud and a great day for baseball, we’ll continue to be a leader in this field and do what we have to do. This is remarkable when you think of where we were 10, 12, 15 years ago and where we are today, nobody could have dreamed it.”

According to the new drug testing agreement, the World Anti-Doping Agency laboratory will keep the records of players which will include a baseline testosterone test and will perform a Carbon Isotop Ratio Spectrometry (IRMS) test if a urine sample that varies to far from the baseline test. The WADA laboratory is located in Laval, Quebec.

(Video) New NBA Commercial With Chris Paul and Magic Johnson

Chris Paul

The NBA has released another commercial produced by the great Spike Lee. This one includes Chris Paul, Steve Nash and Magic Johnson.

It displays Chris Paul’s speed, and him leaving his man in a cloud of dust. I find it hilarious that Steve Nash is in the commercial just watching Chris Paul, considering that when he guards him, that’s usually what happens.

You can watch the new 30 second spot below.

Maloof Family Working to Sell Kings and Relocate to Seattle

It is being reported by the Yahoo! Sports that the Maloof family is finalizing a deal to sell the Sacramento Kings to a hedge-fund manager Chris Hansen and Microsoft chairman Steve Ballmer. The deal is reportedly for $500 million and upon the sale the team will move to Seattle.

The new ownership group would rename the Kings back to the SuperSonics and use the original team colors as the teams name, history, and color were left in Seattle once the team moved to Oklahoma City.

The Maloof family and the city of Sacramento have been negotiating on the parameters of a new arena and a sticking point has been who would be the primary financer.

One thing is made clear with this sale, owners will do whatever they can to increase the bottom line. The Kings have one of the most loyal fan bases in Sacramento and even though the city doesn’t have the means to build them a new arena they Maloof family much rather relocate the team to a city who will pick up the tab on most the cost of a new arena.

If you ask me that sounds pretty greedy to me.
