Adrian Peterson arguably had one of the greatest seasons of all time, he came back just 8 months after reconstructive knee surgery and was rewarded with his team making the playoffs (mostly because of his great play) and his second 1st team All Pro team selcetion (2008,2009). Peterson was voted 2nd team All Pro in 2010.

Peterson ran for 2,097 just 9 yards short of Eric Dickerson’s season all time rushing record. Peterson also led the league in rushing yards per game (131.1) and most yards from scrimmage (2314). Factor in those numbers and his value to the Minnesota Vikings offense, it might be very hard for voters not to vote him for league MVP also.

JJ Watt the second Houston Texan had a breakout season with the departure of Mario Williams. Watt essentially has taken away the left side of the line of scrimmage for opposing offenses. He tallied 20.5 sacks this season which was tops in the league. He also accrued 16 pass deflections and 69 tackles, which he led the team in as well. Not many thought the Texans would be able to fill the void left by Mario Williams, however Watt has made him a distant memory.

Other  notable selections Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers were selected to the All Pro team, 1st team and 2nd team respectively. Manning currently has the Broncos in the midst of an 11 game winning streak with home field advantage through the playoffs, only needing two wins to make his 3rd trip to the Super Bowl.

Rodgers just inches past Tom Brady for 2nd team All Pro by one vote. While the Patriots offense has been prolific, you can argue the Rodgers is more important to his teams success considering the Packers have a very weak running threat. Rodger’s numbers are statistically better the Brady but not by much.

Roders threw for 4,295 yards, 39 touchdowns, 67% completion, and conducted 3 game winning drives.

Brady did throw for more yards 4,827, however less touchdowns (37), lower completion % (63%) and 2 game winning drives.

Don’t forget this, Rodgers had to deal with all but two of his receivers or tight ends being out  at least one game. Only Randall Cobb, James Jones and Jermichael Finley have played 15 games at the skill position.
